Nymia was born on Palaven, raised in much the same way as other Turian children. She came from a middling class family, a mother who was a Doctor and a father who was a scientist. It became clear early on that she had a gift for electronic and mechanical things and a deep interest in space ships, often stealing pieces from her father's workspace to make her own tiny, cobbled-together creations. At the age of 15 she went to bootcamp and earned her citizenship. Afterward she was assigned work in one of the Palaven ship-yards, building and doing maintenance on both personal, merchant, and military space vessels. This suited her talents and interests to the T and she remained there for the next five years.

Shortly thereafter she was assigned duty on an active Turian fleet vessel. She remained on this assignment for six years, discovering new uses for all of the skills she had aquired during her assignment to the dry-docks. During this tour her ship endured several skirmishes, earning her her fair share of scars and war stories. The ship itself sustained heavy damages but was able to limp into a colonial port with the constant around the clock maintenance of Nymia and her two fellow engineers aboard the vessel. She was briefly put on leave to recover from the extreme levels of exhaustion and mild injuries she had received getting the ship safely back to port. After her recovery she received notification that due to her excellent service record she was being re-assigned to vessel she currently tends to, having affectionately nicknamed the ship "Baby."
