Born onto the human agrarian colony of Asteria within the Attican Traverse, Kjell lived all of his life isolated within his small farming community. Contact with the outside world was limited, coming in the form of the occasionally Alliance News Network broadcast, rambling on of Turian expansion or the newest Asari healthcare product, as well as the occasionally Asari trader visiting from the planet numerous other colonies. His mother, and her father before her, both served within the System Alliance Marine Corp, distinguishing themselves as exemplary servicemen in the line of duty. Kjell, eager to leave the farm and see what existed beyond his arid world, educated himself on various military tactics and hardware, even purchasing a military-grade omnitool from a shady Terminus trader as well as practicing with his family’s shotgun against defenseless bottles and packages. By the age of 18, Kjell signed his enlistment papers and flew from home, setting off into Council Space to begin his training with the Alliance Marines.

Advancing through basic training, Kjell demonstrated high proficiency in the use of offensive omnitool abilities, capable of landing an incineration shot from nearly 100 meters away. Beyond his skills in tech, Kjell exhibited a high control over shotguns, from the M-27 Scimitar and M-23 Katana to hard hitters such as the M-300 Claymore. These skills earned him a place as a Pointman within the Alliance Marines, trained in the operation of both medium and heavy armor systems. Following his graduation, Kjell was stationed aboard a System Alliance Naval vessel patrolling the Terminus System, where he and his squadron would engage in numerous drug and contraband raids on suspected criminals. Though proud of his work, Kjell still longed to see the galaxy, as well as to contribute himself into the war effort. Applying for transfer to a newly formed multi-species task force, Kjell soon found himself in a conflict that stretched far beyond the Terminus System.
