How long have you been rping? Since 2011, or 2012 – I can’t really remember, but I’ve been doing Garry’s Mod Roleplay since then, before finally moving onto Tabletop, and then back; In short, I switch between the two.
How did you find us? I saw Dex play here, so naturally I asked and considered it. Then I saw Dragon and Piano. Now I’m applying.
Have you been banned from Singularity Gaming? Nope.

Circa 2141 - Palaven

A ‘Lifer’ family had their first child, and thusly named him ‘Diocletianus’, before raising him and educating him as every other Turian child was brought into the world of Palaven. Diocletianus went through his first years of life in an ordinary manner.  He went through education and continued on with life until he hit the age of fifteen. Fifteen was the year that changed every Turian’s life, and it especially changed Diocletianus ’ life when he was shipped off to Basic Training.

Within a harsh year, Diocletianus found himself being disciplined and taught how to behave as a soldier was expected to. Later on down the road, Diocletianus had been issued a standard Mental Aptitude test, in which he was screened for qualities that would be trained later down the line. In the end, he ended up scoring in such a manner that he was placed as a Standard Rifleman. Technically, once he finished ‘Boot-Camp’, he was a Third-Tier Turian, and thus he could’ve dropped his military career right there and gone into a more Civilian style of life. He, however, decided to follow family tradition and became a Rifleman.

Diocletianus was promptly shipped off to a Rifle Battalion that was stationed within a set of fleets. Everything would’ve gone well for Diocletianus ’ first years of enlistment, if it weren’t for that fact that he was stationed next to a Mass Relay – Specifically, Relay 314, a Relay that had been deemed ‘off-limits’ by the Citadel due to the Rachni Wars. Eventually, during their break in the Mess Hall, the Turians found themselves hearing the blaring noise of a klaxon going off. They were in Combat, but there wasn’t any intelligence on the class of ships. The lack of intelligence bothered most of the crew on the ship, and it especially bothered a Rookie like Diocletianus . After a few hours’ worth of fighting, the klaxon shut down and most of the ship’s crew returned to their proper stations. Even with the fighting over, Diocletianus wondered as to what they were engaged with. Was it a new species? Or simply a new class of ships? Nobody knew, and some rumors even came about insisting that it was Protheans. None-the-less, Diocletianus made a note to be mentally prepared in case another attack happened. He wasn’t afraid in the traditional sense, in fact, he had an extreme sense of trust in the Navy that ran the ship and engaged in all aspects of Naval warfare. He just didn’t know how he’d fair if there was ever a ground aspect to the war.

In the coming weeks, Diocletianus would find out how he’d handle the many brutalities of war. The enemy ships had sent scout fleets towards the Turians, only to be cut down once again. This happened quite a few times, but it was eventually cut short when the Turian fleet made the decision to push towards an out-skirted colony known as Shanxi. The Turians fought off the foreign race in space, prior to engaging in an extended orbital siege. With the cards in their hands, the Turians sent in landing teams to the colony, which would soon engage in sieges and general attacks on the defending enemy.

Diocletianus finally found out what he was fighting, as many other Turian Infantry did. As it happens, it was an unlikely foe to be fighting, one that nobody had encountered yet. He was engaged in a war against Humanity. The Rifleman Battalion was primarily deployed to engage and root the Human forces out from their garrisons, so that the Turians could take over and make their own garrisons. Despite his pride in his race, Diocletianus couldn’t help but feel ‘wrong’ for his engagements; He knew he had to partake in it, and he was happy to do so, but he doesn’t remember the Humans ever opening fire on the fleet he was aboard. He often looked upon the minute details of the war whenever he had the moment to. In the end, his seeming reservations about the legitimacy of the war were dismissed during a simple scouting expedition into a city. Diocletianus would be one of the many Infantrymen who stayed on the planet for the coming month-or-so, and he was one of the many who’d scout out various locations and set up fortifications for the other forces that would come in and manage them. Later on during his deployment to Shanxi, he’d be ambushed. He was taking point a few meters in front of his fire-team, and was thusly the first to be hit. His foot had run across a small wire, which was linked to a set of fragmentation grenades. With a daze and a ring setting in his ears and head, all he could do was crawl backwards and fire blindly, his eyes still recovering from the sudden trauma. Even with the sudden amount of bravery the Turian managed to draw from himself, it wouldn’t save him from succumbing to the effects of hypovolemia.

Weeks had passed before Diocletianus woke up from his forced slumber – And, much to his unexpected horror, he woke up with a bandaged face and immobilized limbs. If there was ever a time to be panicked, it was then and there, yet Diocletianus didn’t find himself flailing about on the gurney. In fact, he felt himself falling unconscious once more. It was obvious that someone had flushed his system with a sedative, so that he wouldn’t hurt himself, or possibly even hurt someone else. Once again, Diocletianus woke up from his dreadfully uncomfortable slumber, but this time it was different. His face wasn’t entirely covered, only his jawline this time. He saw a nurse and attempted to speak, but only found his mouth drawing small grumbles and lisps from the air instead of words. She quickly ran off and pulled a Physician into the room, who would evaluate Diocletianus ’ mental faculty, and physical articulation. He’d then eventually inform the poor Turian of his current state. He had lost an arm, and his jaw was wired in a fixed position so that it could heal. Even then, Diocletianus didn’t quit – He was extremely angry, but yet still determined to continue in his line of military service.

Several Years Later

Diocletianus had eventually healed from his wounds, and with a new prosthetic at his side, he was capable of returning to Military Service; After all, he did want to follow tradition of his family, and he did so. He continued to serve his Species as best he could, and even gained promotions to a higher tier of service than he previously had. He ended up being moved to the 43rd Marine Division – A Joint Task Force that specialized in training and working with other races. Previously they worked with the Asari and Salarians, but they had recently opened up relations with the Alliance Military. Much to his surprise, Diocletianus managed to train alongside the Humans that he had previously fought against. He had managed to break past the anger he had for them, due to the fact that he viewed the cooperation as a good opportunity for himself and his Government to advance as a whole. During his training with the Alliance Forces, he became semi-acquainted with Human culture, and even did some research on his own, despite the little amounts of information he had access to. He had some pride in being able to work past his discrepancies with the Humans, and even became fond of the few Alliance Marines he worked with. His growing familiarity with them even grew into something more than that, it became something he actively sought to learn from. This went on to the point that Diocletianus filed a formal request for ‘Shock Trooper’ training – It was a form of Warfare that he had already dealt with during his time on Shanxi. His request was accepted, and he was shipped off to another planet that was similar to the one he had trained on as a part of the 43rd Marines Task Force Division.

Post Training

Diocletianus had survived the rough training that was expected for a Soldier that is meant to charge into the enemy’s position right after they’ve been hit with artillery, or some other form of ‘Shock’. It wasn’t exactly easy for him, but in the end he succeeded as he planned to. He had become well trained in the usage of explosives, and other infiltration tactics that are used by Shock Troopers, and he even adapted some of the Guerrilla tactics that he learned from the humans during his time in the 43rd Marines Division. With a new set of assets and experience under his belt, Diocletianus was stationed aboard another fleet for several more years. He didn’t see very many conflicts during his time, except for a few exchanges in space that he couldn’t actively ‘fight’ in. There was, however, one major conflict that he would partake in. The War on Taetrus was an inner-Turian conflict, a bloody one at that. A ship had been rammed into Vallum – The Capital City – At FTL induced speeds. The Turian Hierarchy wanted the threat gone, and had ordered a fleet to take out the strongholds of Turian Separatists on the planet.

Once deployed, Diocletianus was sent on numerous raids that spear-headed the assault on the various Strongholds. Even then, it was clear that the conflict wouldn’t be won without troubles. Various Turian colonists had joined arms with the Hierarchy. Diocletianus ended up training a few such Militia groups before they went on to fight against the Turians that had destroyed their home city. It was a bloody war, and it lasted several months – The Separatists had previous fortifications set up from a Civil War that required reinforcement of various cities. One-by-one, the Hierarchy and the Citizens would invade and destroy the Separatists, but it wasn’t without cost. Many families had been destroyed and torn apart from the conflict. At the end of it all, the Hierarchy was left to reassemble civilization and reconnect families, but Diocletianus wasn’t there for that. During a final raid he had been caught off guard – A single Separatist had posed as a Civilian Militiaman for quite some time, and he ended up severely injuring Diocletianus during a hostage situation.

Retirement

Diocletianus had recovered from his injuries once more – But he couldn’t handle going back to the Military for quite some time. A body could be healed physically with the use of surgery and various medications, but a mind wouldn’t recover so easily when there’s an entirely different manner of injury on hand. So, with a fair sum of credits in his bank, Diocletianus had made his way to the Citadel and applied for a new job; One that he was typically suited for – It was still the sort with physical wear included, but it was at least one that he could see himself protecting the innocent in. He, had sent in a request for a sponsor from a Turian Ambassador, so that he could apply for a job within the Citadel Security Services. His application was accepted, and he was assigned to the Special Response team, due to the fact that he’s had a fairly large amount of time spent in Combat, as well as time dealing with Civilians on Taetrus. This new job landed Diocletianus a few months of relaxing Police-Work in the Presidium, prior to him being relocated to work in the Wards section of the Citadel. Diocletianus dealt with various Law-Breakers and “Criminal Scum” for a few more months, until it finally turned to that dreadful year of 2186.

Circa 2186

News had hit the Citadel that Earth had been hit by Reapers – And it wasn’t a lie; There was physical proof. The hospitals were filled, and there were Refugees flooding the Wards. It was time to act, thought Diocletianus . He feared deeply that the same fate would fall onto Palaven. He quickly got a ride to the nearest Turian Military Office and filed his applications. Typically, someone couldn’t join the Military after retiring, but with the literal Reapers invading, nobody would turn down extra soldiers. Diocletianus was promptly reenlisted into the Turian Military. During his orientation he would come to learn of the defeat of Taetrus, and the pictures of Vallum smoking. The city he once fought for was destroyed and rendered to ash. Angrier than ever, Diocletianus was stationed in one of the fleets that would take part in the defense of Menae – One of Palaven’s various moons – There he was deployed and valiantly defended the moon from the various horrors that the Reapers had concocted up to fight the Turian ground forces. It was a grinding battle, and one that wouldn’t be won – Even then, the Turian forces stationed on the Moon continued to fight, they were, however, forced to retreat. A few of them managed to retreat to Palaven. Diocletianus was one of them, and he was determined to defend his home until he died.

A Miracle

Palaven was seemingly lost, until assistance came from an unlikely ally. The Krogan. The Turians leaked a battle-plan that lured the Reapers off to a decoy, so that Troop-Transports could get reinforcements on the ground. Various Krogan dropped in with fissile weapons, but they were swarmed by Collector Swarms and Husks. In the midst of this, Diocletianus coordinated various rendezvous efforts with the Resistance Forces. He went out with a squad and met up with one such Krogan, so that they could collect the Fissile Weapon that the Krogans had been bringing down. This happened all around Palaven – It was a coordinated effort to get the Reapers off of Palaven, and it worked. Within days the weapons had been smuggled into processing centers, and even Reaper Capital Ships. Palaven hadn’t been lost, and the fact that the Turians managed to out-smart Reapers caused a leap in morale. Of course, with a fleet in Orbit due to the reclamation of Palaven, there were naturally landing craft that touched down in order to deliver supplies. The Turian Hierarchy was also there, and with the Primarch having sworn their aid to the Alliance, any remaining Infantry were pulled and delivered to Earth.

The Final Act

Diocletianus was on a Troop Transport that carried an entire Drop-Crew; They had managed to break past the blasts of Reaper weaponry during the massive battle that ensued in space.  The Pilot quickly made his way above a known Resistance location, before literally dropping the crew down below. Once on the ground, Diocletianus managed to deliver a set of supplies and weaponry to one of the Resistance Strongholds. This was simply the beginning of the linked Species’ efforts to take back Earth and deliver the Crucible to the Citadel. Whilst on the ground, Diocletianus took part in the efforts to push back the Reaper infantry. His experience with fighting them from Palaven proved to be useful. Especially when he had to organize an effort from Civilian Militiamen who took up arms. The combined forces’ efforts to push back the Reapers succeeded, and paved half of the path out so that Shepard could make their way to the Citadel. The War had been won, and Diocletianus managed to survive through it all.

Post-War

Whilst the Citadel was being repaired for the damage it sustained, there was still another issue to be dealt with. Rebuilding – And that wasn’t possible when there wasn’t any true sense of Government to be had. Naturally people would take up pirating and looting so as to sustain their own lives while the Reapers took over. Some may have even taken to worshipping the Reapers, because they thought they’d be allowed to live and worship. Either way, there was still a purpose for a Police Force in the Galaxy. With this in mind, Diocletianus requested a meeting with a Commanding Officer in the Turian Hierarchy, so that he could join up with a Joint-Task-Force. He was then met with surprising news – He had not in fact been reenlisted in the Turian Military. As it turns out, he was simply allowed in and filed under as a Mercenary. He was, however, at that moment given an opportunity to formally join the Military once more, but he decided to file an application with the JTF he had been hearing about.

I actually liked reading this, which is weird for an application. All of the story/background checks up. No crazy things he did, all just very logical in my mind. +Support here.
