(( I'm a bit new to the Mass Effect lore, so forgive any slip ups.))

    Charlie was born on an industrialized planet where the air was so thick with smog, you needed a respiration device to breath. This lead to him developing lung problems during his childhood, but would be later cured due to his enlistment within the military. His parents were kind, humble, and honest workers, despite their poor living conditions and constant requirement for working. Speaking of, their residency wasn't much; simply a room squished into a building among other rooms, like apartments. Rent was still a thing.  

     His early life consisted of burdening his family with midnight cries and attracted bickering neighbours who threatened to get them kicked out of the apartment. Luckily, they were white lies and as Charlie grew older, he was also placed into the work force. It truly was a drastic change from his pampered hours at home alone to being packed into a factory with hundreds of others his age, operating at various stations or simply hauling coal into the huge furnaces- due to the poor economy and the planet being along the terminus systems, their equipment was very much outdated. He wasn't exactly shy and carried a friendly smile, earning him a decent amount of friends who he saw every day. Sometimes, someone wouldn't show up, but that wasn't anything new around here. It still greatly saddened him, because everyone knew that either weakness or sickness had hindered or taken their life.

     As he began to reach his late teens, Charlie realized he didn't want to do this for the rest of his life. I mean, who would? A month after he turned eighteen, it seemed his 'dream' has been answered. A ship flew in early one day and rumours of them enlisting were running about. People were beginning to pile up near the docking area of the massive, government vessal, and sure enough, enlistment was their reasoning for arriving. He was one of the lucky few to get selected and now here he is.
